Jen Bryant of AAF-Louisville is Governor of District 5.
Q. Where do you work and what do you do?
A. I’m Senior Director of Marketing for LSS Holdings, parent company of LSS Life Safety Services and Hughes Environmental. LSS is a fire safety inspection company and Hughes is an industrial cleaning company. I worked for Hughes for four years and left for about a year and a half, until I was asked to come back to manage the marketing for both companies.
Q. Why did you want to be part of AAF? What value does AAF bring to you as an individual and to your business?
A. A coworker insisted I join the Young Advertising Professionals with AAF Louisville to get connected when I moved back to Louisville. I can honestly say that everything good about my advertising career can be attributed in some way to my AAF membership. It’s nice to be able to collaborate and work alongside the best minds in the business, and especially when I was new to the industry, to be able to approach people I wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to meet. The people I’ve met through AAF are my coworkers, vendors, peers, mentors, and friends.
Q. Which AAF chapter is your local chapter?
A. I am a member of AAF-Louisville and have served on the chapter board for 11 years.
Q. What made you decide to become a district leader?
A. Our District Governor, Courtney Lee, has been an excellent mentor for me throughout my advertising career and I want to be like her when I grow up. Also, I want to do everything I can to move our industry forward and help clubs outside of city. The District board is an excellent way to do that.
Q. What are your responsibilities on the D5 Board this year?
A. I’m coordinating the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). My goal is to ensure a smooth competition and hopefully see one of our D5 schools advance to Nationals in June.
Q. What value does D5 bring to members in our district?
A. While our clubs vary in size and geography, many of the core issues are the same across the board. It’s helpful to get insight from others to find new ideas and ways to help our clubs succeed.
Q. How do you spend your free time and what do you enjoy most?
A. I’m a huge Louisville Cardinals fan and football season ticket holder, so you can find me at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium most Saturdays in the fall. I have a two-year-old who keeps me busy the rest of the time. What do I enjoy most? Bloody Marys, of course!
